Thanks to all those who turned up for the first Tour event of 2006, the Spring Road Route. After the fantastic weather of Saturday, who would have expected the rain of early Sunday? Still it didn't put you off and we were delighted that a few of you, who had reduced your ambitions to the 50km route, then decided in the improving conditions to either revert to the full distance or do 2 laps of the lesser distance. We would like to apologise again for the thoughtless individual who changed the arrows around in Ham, giving some of you a 5 mile detour to get back on track, but do hope that you found the rest of the marking up to scratch. Peter and his team made us very welcome at Wyke Down and we look forward to returning there next year, in the sunshine of course!
As many of you will now realise we have a Tour photographer on the route of each event to capture your efforts and his pictures can be accessed at Swarbrick.com. Guy had some problems cataloging your images in order to make them easy for you to find. It would reduce his headache therefore if you would display your event number on the front of your bicycle at future events.
Several of you asked if we were giving out certificates, and we explained that as we had only recently assumed management of the Tour that we hadn't really had time to organise it. You'll therefore be pleased to know that we will be giving them out at the other Tour events taking place this year. There will also be an extra reward for those completing all four events this year.
Just to remind you that the next Tour event is the Hot Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday 30th July at Vernham Dean. We look forward to seeing you there.
